About the Position:
We are looking for a Public Relations & Media Relations Coordinator. We're looking for a passionate candidate with exceptional PR & marketing strategy, communication, project and people management skills.
 
The role will be focused on leading the full scope of our society PR including strategy, story telling, thought leadership, research, and events. This position will play a pivotal role in shaping our rapidly growing marketing and outreach efforts. 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute a PR strategy in collaboration with other staff to achieve significant increases in awareness of HonorSociety.org and support for our mission.
  • Increase visibility of and engagement with HonorSociety.org activities, programs, chapters, associations, awards, and members in collaboration with other staff.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, media visits, broadcast opportunities, and spokesperson needs
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local, national, and trade press in traditional and new media outlets
  • Develop and place compelling content, including press releases, editorial pieces, and member profiles
  • Monitor media coverage and measure the results of PR efforts

 

Qualifications Required:

  • One to five years of professional experience in media or public relations with a strong network of traditional and new media press contacts
  • BA/BS degree.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills, with the ability to think on ones feet and stay on message
  • Exceptional time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to work with a team as well as independently, and to manage and meet deadlines for multiple projects simultaneously
  • A passion for education, college, and community. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with experience working collaboratively and creatively
  • Proficiency with basic computer programs including Microsoft Office, social media tools, and media applications,  Familiarity with HTML and Photoshop a plus.

 
This role reports to our Executive Director.
